The last few days before our flight back to Belgium, we stayed at Pythagorion. There wasn’t much time to explore the area. We rented a motorbike to make a couple of excursions. |

Labito |
Just for 1 night - waiting for the
boat the next day - rated 30 Eur at the end of May (incl. breakfast). |
|
| Kouros Bay |
The hotel next to the
airport with a swimming pool is a very good place to stay. We were afraid
it would be too noisy because of the proximity of the airport, but in
fact we hardly noticed. The breakfast was of good quality. Everything
you could wish for at a breakfast buffet was available. The prices were
very moderate (45 Eur for a double room on a 3-night basis). |

Varka (in Pythagorion) |
As we are fond of greek food
and dining in general we visited restaurants as often as possible. |

It’s a marvellous place and
extremely relaxing to have lunch or dinner at this place. |

Pythagorion |
Here
you have the opportunity to visit a lot a archeological sites, one more
fascinating than the other. At least worth a visit are: Gymnasium, Evpalinos tunnel, Kastro |

Excursion 1: Paleokastro-Posidonio-Kerveli |
The route is very green with marvellous
views. Posidonio has a large tavern (see restaurants)
which is surrounded by clear blue sea. |
|
| Excursion 2: Paleokastro-Agia Zoni-Zoodochos Pigis-Agia Paraskevi |
The trip to the monasteries
offers panoramic views. |
|
| Excursion 3: Temple of Hera-Mili-Koumadarei-Chora | We
enjoyed the beautiful landscape and certainly will make this excursion
again on a later occasion because this time we were a bit in a hurry. The site of the temple of Hera closes at 3 pm. This was the second time we missed the visit (our first visit to Samos was in 1994). A very large monastery (Megali Panagia) - which was closed – could be admired from different places during this trip.
